Raku pendant - the light at the end of the tunnel

This striking black and white ceramic pendant is quite possibly my favourite raku piece I’ve created so far!

Made with a white clay which was bisque fired in the community kiln in Grove Park, Lewisham, sanded, and then re-fired - carefully taken from the kiln whilst still red hot before “combustibles” - in this case hair - were applied. While still so hot the carbon from the burning fibres fuse with the clay to form unpredictable and energetic marks. I finished the surface of ceramics with a museum grade microcrystalline wax.

I can’t tell you how much I love making these!

The pendant is finished with a silver plated pinch bail and hanging loop.

Approximate dimensions: 55mm x 18mm

Please note this listing is for the pendant only, you can add a recycled silver chain to the order separately should you need one.
