All the items listed have been created by me at my home in South East London. And I promise I do a happy dance every time I sell one!
I love all things art and craft - you’ll find illustrations, paintings, ceramics, embroideries, mixed media collages and jewellery. I also undertake custom projects so do get in touch if you have an idea for something you think I could make.
Wherever possible everything I use to make my items is sourced secondhand. I love searching charity shops and auctions for craft and embroidery items looking for a new home. I collect found object when on walks for my collages. My steampunk pieces use genuine watch and clock parts from broken vintage time pieces, and repurposed broken vintage and costume jewellery. And I will very happily incorporate your pieces in to my work. (Please note I no longer make new resin jewellery, I will be photographing and uploading my existing pieces, new plastic free lines will be coming in the future!).
Similarly when I post out items the outer packaging will be recycled wherever possible.
Everything is lovingly packaged, and just let me know if you’d like it gift wrapped!
Utterly striking black and white raku ceramic and hand carved wood brooch.
Raku is a wonderful, exhilarating process - but it isn’t gentle!
Sometimes pieces crack with the temperature shock - just as they did with this one. But I loved the patterns created so much I didn’t want to waste it. So I hand carved a wooden mount, carefully drilled both ceramic and wood with my dremel and stitched them together with wire. I finished the surface of the ceramic with a museum grade microcrystalline wax.
When I first carved the wood (a piece of line from my parents’ farm) I felt it was too light in colour - so made it darker with my pyrography pen and then a gas flame before burnishing it.
The brooch has a pin fastening and protective felt on the back.
I love this piece so much - a reminder that after being damaged things can become strong and beautiful, wearing the marks of their story with pride.
